In a few days, I’ll be traveling to Spain for the second time with a college friend. Our understanding husbands, who are giving us a fond farewell (thanks to a few tasty meals left in the freezer and promises to return safely), know that travel fever has occurred once again.  The itinerary includes a stay in vibrant Madrid with day trips to Toledo, Segovia, and Avila. We’ll then board the train to Seville; from there we’ll pivot to Cordoba, Granada, and Jerez de la Frontera for castles, cathedrals, libations and whatever else comes our way.

As part of travel planning, I’ve talked to friends who have visited these areas, have popped the corks of several Spanish wines I’ve received, and have perused travel magazines, books, and articles on the internet. I’ve also reviewed a few posts I’ve written about some of the wines of Spain: Albarino, Cava, Tempranillo, Garnacha, Monastrell, and Sherry. Reading about these distinctive wines (and food pairings with recipes) has made me even more excited about this journey!

I hope you enjoy the articles, just a few of the many I’ve written about wines from Spain. Simply click on the title that links to the post itself. Perhaps you’ll be inspired to plan your trip to this incredible country, too. Ole!

Wine and Dine: Condes de Albarei Albarino 2014 and Goat Cheese Enchiladas

Spain: Albarei Albarino with Goat Cheese Enchiladas

A crisp, lively Albarino is a wine that should be on your table…if it’s not already.

Wine and Dine: Anna de Codorniu Brut NV and Herbed Parmesan Crisps

Spain: Anna de Cordoniu Brut NV

One of the most delicious examples of Cava, you’ll love the bubbles and palate profile as much as I do.

Wine and Dine with Cepa 21: Who Loves Tempranillo and Tapas?

Spain: Cepa 21 Tempranillo

What’s not to love about Tempranillo? And paired with tapas? The best!

Vinos de Carinena – Crafted in Stone

Spain carinena

I’m willing to bet that you’ve had some of these wines…but did you realize where they were produced?

Spain monastrell

The trip opened my eyes to the world of Monastrell from the region of Murcia.

Pairing Wine with Tapas

True confession: I sometimes buy wines by the attractiveness of the label, and that bottle of Anna looks like it tastes fantastic.

It does, Ann! And it’s under $15! When we meet up, I’ll bring a bottle of the Anna:)

  2. I know you will have a blast! Seville is one of my favorite cities in the world. I am sure you are planning to visit Alhambra in Granada, it is so amazing! Looking forward to following your journey. Safe travels!
