It’s almost Friday and you are already thinking about your weekend plans and perhaps which wines to purchase. Weekly, I post two recommendations for your weekend wine choices. My occasional “Wine and Dine” articles suggest a recipe with wine pairings (and I’ll be bringing you some fantastic tapas recipes soon). This weeks marks my wedding anniversary with Mr. Grape-Experiences as well as the marriage of our youngest daughter on Saturday! Naturally, I’m suggesting some sparkling wine so that you can help us celebrate, too! The Cava from Spain and the Italian bubbles are delicious and will certainly help you get the party started! Just be sure to make a toast!!
**Segura Viudas Brut Reserva – Having been to Spain recently, it is no wonder that I’m adding a Cava to my list of celebratory bubbles! The blend of 50% Macabeo, 35% Parellada, and 15% Xarel-lo, the traditional grapes, created a food friendly wine. Floral and fruit aromas led to tastes of tropical fruit including pineapple. The price point and deliciousness are fantastic and this will be a perfect time to go out and purchase a bottle. This particular Cava is one of my favorites and is readily available in your local wine shop. And the cost? Less than $10. !
**Ferrari Rose – From Trento in Italy, these bubbles are a blend of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay. All of us enjoyed the aromas of raspberries and flowers with tastes of nuts (almonds?) and more red fruits. The cost is around $30. for this lovely wine and although it’s a bit higher than you may expect, you won’t be disappointed ~
Cheers to celebrations! ~ Cindy
