It’s Wednesday and you are already thinking about your weekend plans and perhaps which wines to purchase. Each Wednesday, I post two recommendations for your weekend wine choices which are under $20.00 – one white and one red. Many of us will be dealing with some repeats from a Thanksgiving feast (or ordering a pizza!), so consider making your weekend food choices shine with these European wines made for pairing!
**2010 Domaine Guiberteau Saumur Blanc – A crisp, clean, organically grown Chenin Blanc from the Loire Valley in France may be just what your palate needs after the food fest of Thanksgiving! With minerality, green apple, pear and melon on the nose and palate, pair this high acid wine which has a long finish with those appetizers you’re making out of the leftovers! Cost is around $15.00.
**Monte Antico 2008 Toscana IGT – A Super Tuscan will save your day! Consisting of 85% Sangiovese, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 5% Merlot, this food friendly wine will pair with pizza, pasta, chicken, roasted or grilled meat…anything! The power of the Cabernet Sauvignon, juicy fruit of the Merlot, and sour cherry zip of the Sangiovese combine to make this wine a delicious soft style for your weekend enjoyment! Price point is $13.00 and you may find it for less.
Cheers! ~ Cindy
