Wine lovers everywhere! Let’s hear from real, unpretentious people who love to drink wine…and who are right in our own neighborhood or who may even be next door. These are the people who actually purchase the wine and help make this industry work – I’ll be profiling these real people on a regular basis… So, this month’s wine lover next door is intelligent, gorgeous, an awesome mom of four, has her own business selling custom men’s clothes, and…lives three doors down from me! I asked her about her wine preferences and received some interesting responses – do you know someone like Stephanie?
G-E: Stephanie, could you let the readers know a bit about yourself?
Stephanie: I am married with four kids, and work in the luxury menswear business for J. Hilburn. My days are pretty busy…so I really enjoy a nice glass of wine at the end of the day!
G-E: When did you start enjoying wine?
Stephanie: In college I worked in the restaurant industry. We did occasional wine tastings to choose the selections to be offered at the restaurant. As soon as I began to learn about good wines, I was hooked!
G-E: What wines do you particularly like?
Stephanie: My favorite is a full bodied Chardonnay. Occasionally, if the meal calls for it, I enjoy a Cabernet Sauvignon.
G-E: Do you have a price point?
Stephanie: The wines I drink regularly are about $15.00 a bottle, but every once and awhile I’ll treat myself and go higher.
G-E: Do you have a favorite food pairing?
Stephanie: I love to pair the wine with gourmet cheeses and yummy dips.
G-E: When you bring wine to a friend as a gift, what do you usually bring?
Stephanie: If it’s a hostess gift, I bring one of my favorite Chardonnays such as La Crema or Carmel Road. If I bring a Cab, it is likely to be Louis Martini or Coppola.
G-E: If you don’t know what wine to purchase, how do you decide?
Stephanie: I’ll read the description on the label and look for what I like (buttery and oaky) or rely on the ratings some stores provide.
G-E: Are there any wines you do not like?
Stephanie: I don’t like really light whites or sweet wines. I like the strong taste so the really light ones seem too watery. I have never been a fan of sweet wine.
G-E: How do you learn about wine?
Stephanie: I discuss wine with friends, ask questions at the wine stores, and read wine magazines!
G-E: Is there anything else you’d like to share?
Stephanie: Finding new wines that I love is so exciting and a real adventure! When I find that new wine, I love to share it with others!!
Thanks, Stephanie! You are exactly the *wine lover* who the wine industry appreciates! And I’ll be ringing your doorbell with a new wine for you to try very soon!!
Cheers to *wine lovers* everywhere! ~ Cindy
